This blog post is one of my academic activity about structuralism and literary criticism.
Structuralism it is the offshoot of certain developments in linguistics and anthropology. Famous critic Saussure’s made of the synchronic study of language was an attempt to formulate the grammar of a language from a study of parole.In literary theory structuralism is an approach to analyzing the narrative material by examining the underlying invariant structure.
By elaborate this theory I tries to analyze two bollywood movie named: 1) DDLJ and 2) Humpty Sharma ki dulhaniya. In these movies as a theory of structuralism I tried to find out some similarities about the situations.
In both of these movies I found that some points which are same in both movies.
1.place
2.love
3.complexity
4.union
In DDLJ we see that the hero (raj)and the heroine(simaran) both are meet in the foreign country and in the HSKD there were hero(humpty) and the heroine (kavya) bothe are meet in the small village Ambala. So the place are different but the connection was same. Second thing that love, in both the movie we see that first they meet each other with very hatred and then fall in love. Third thing is that complexity it is very common in every romantic movies. In DDLJ we see that the complexity is the father of heroine and in the HSKD there were also complexity is the heroine’s father. Forth one is that union it means that all meets together at the end of the movie. In DDLJ at the end of the movie raj and simran and both families are together and in the movie HSKD there were also a same situation both families meet together.
After seeing such kind of points we can say that in both movies there are same circumstances shown but in different manner.
